A 44-year-old man was the victim of a robbery, shooting and car crash Tuesday night.
But that’s not all.
As he lay wounded on the street after the wreck, an older woman snatched his blood-covered cash from the ground nearby.
“That’s cold,” said Sgt. Martin Cobbinah of the assault squad. “It’s like he got robbed twice in one night.”
It all started about 7 p.m. when the victim said he met a man at 63rd Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard for a “business transaction,” later revealed to be an attempt to buy marijuana, authorities said.
Instead of providing the pot, the dealer robbed the victim. The victim then fled in his car, with the dealer in hot pursuit, firing at the victim.
The victim suffered gunshot wounds to both legs and caused a head-on crash at Eastwood Trafficway and Blue Parkway with a third vehicle. The gunman sped away.
A bystander stopped to help the victim as he lay in the street. Meanwhile, an older woman approached the victim, picked up a wad of cash near him and walked away with it, witnesses told police.
The shooting victim and the driver of the third vehicle both suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
