Man arrested in KC assault involving brick

A man was seriously injured in Kansas City this afternoon when someone beat him with a brick, police reported.

Officers arrested a suspect near the assault scene at 58th Terrace and Swope Parkway.

Police were called just after 1 p.m. on a report of a man being beaten on the head with a brick. Officers reported that large crowd had gathered and “wants to kill the suspect.”

The beating victim was taken to a hospital where his injuries were described as serious or critical, according to police. The suspect was not injured, but an ambulance was called because he was complaining of breathing problems.
