Kansas City man, 52, struck and killed while walking in the street

A 52-year-old Kansas City man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle near Independence and Kensington avenues in Kansas City on Monday. Police said the man was believed dead at the scene but paramedics were able to get his heart beating and he was transported to a hospital where he died shortly afterward. The accident occurred about 6:40 p.m. A witness said the man was walking east in the westbound lanes when he dropped or fell to the pavement. Sgt.
