A Bobcat operator emerged unharmed from under a car port that collapsed in Kansas City, Kan., this afternoon.
Firefighters responded to the call that the structure had fallen on top of the man at an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Woodview Ridge Drive.

Deputy Chief Craig Duke said the man was clearing snow from under structure, which could house four vechicles. He said it wasn’t clear what triggered the collapse, whether it was the snow, problems with the structure or the operator of the Bobcat.
“We don’t know the circumstances,” Duke said.
The man was uninjured inside the heavy cage atop the equipment.
“He was protected,” Duke said.
