Lady Gaga cancels tour to have hip surgery

Rally 'round Little Monsters. Lady Gaga needs you now.

The singer announced today that she is cancelling the rest of her Born This Way Ball Tour to have hip surgery. She revealed on Tuesday that had secretly suffered an injury more than a month ago that left her unable to walk.

Gaga had originally postponed concerts scheduled through this weekend, but the news is much worse.

“After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip caused by strenuous repetitive movements in her performances,” says an announcement on her web site, LittleMonsters.com.

Gaga “will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover," the announcement says.

Gaga performed at the Sprint Center last week in a tour that was to run through March 20. Refunds for the remaining 21 concerts are being given at the point of purchase starting on Thursday.

Gaga told her fans on Tuesday that she had hid the injury from her staff because she didn't want to "disappoint my amazing fans." Calling off, at first, the new few days' worth of concerts led her to send out an emotional apology Tuesday on Twitter.

"It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and Im sorry."

Fans reacted quickly to the news tonight. Little Monster Claire Cogan of Kansas City, who met Gaga at the Sprint Center last week, posted well wishes on Facebook: "Take care of yourself babe, forget about the tour. All we need is your happiness and health. Get well soon xx."
