Lee’s Summit City Council to consider World Cup funding at Tuesday meeting

The Lee’s Summit City Council will consider a request to support World Cup watch parties in the city later this year at the body’s Tuesday meeting.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. Those interested in the proceedings can attend in-person at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 Southeast Green Street, or watch online, through the city’s YouTube channel and website, WatchLS.net.

Among the items city council members will review:

  • Funding and city support of LSGOAL, a volunteer group that is organizing World Cup activities in the city later this year.
  • A $5.4 million contract for storm sewer improvements along Olive and Orchard streets.
  • A preliminary development plan for a Les Schwab Tire Center location at 740 Northwest Ward Road.
  • Accepting $3.5 million in funding from the state of Missouri for the city’s new Joint Operations Facility off Tudor Road.
