Rain postpones highway closure meant to fight graffiti

This morning’s rain forced Kansas highway crews to postpone removing a catwalk to a highway sign over Interstate 670 that vandals hit with graffiti.

Crews plan to remove the catwalk from the overhead sign on Friday. Motorists can expect eastbound I-670 at the Interstate 70/670 split to be closed between 10 a.m. and noon.

While I-670 is closed, eastbound motorists will need to use I-70. The Kansas Department of Transportation is warning drivers to plan for delays and use alternative routes if possible.

Crews on Wednesday removed the catwalk to signs over I-70. The highway department is removing the catwalks because of damage caused by graffiti.
