A fire that injured one person and caused about $100,000 worth of damage to a Kansas City, Kan., apartment Saturday was set deliberately, officials said today.
The fire at 3902 Booth was reported just before 3:30 p.m. Heavy smoke was pouring from a basement apartment when fire crews arrived. Firefighters had trouble getting in because furniture blocked the door.
One apartment had heavy fire, smoke and water damage. One resident was treated for minor smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
The Red Cross was called to assist residents.
