$9.43 million Hot Lotto ticket sold in northeast Kansas

Someone is holding a winning Kansas Hot Lotto jackpot ticket with all numbers matching, worth an estimated $9.43 million.

The identity of the lottery winner was not known Sunday afternoon.

The ticket was sold in northeast Kansas. The region in which the winning ticket was purchased includes the counties of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, Douglas, Marshall, Nemaha, Brown, Doniphan, Riley, Pottawatomie, Jackson, Atchison, Geary, Wabaunsee, Shawnee, Jefferson, Osage, Franklin, Morris and the northern half of Lyon, lottery officials said.

Saturday night's win makes only the fifth Hot Lotto jackpot to hit in Kansas since the state joined the game in 2006 and it is the third time in less than 12 months that a Kansas ticket has won someone a multimillion-dolllar jackpot in a multi-state lottery game. Hot Lotto is played in 14 states and the District of Columbia.

Lottery officials suggest the holder of the winning jackpot ticket sign the back of it right away. A cash payout on the ticket will garner the winner about $7.15 million before taxes.

The next Hot Lotto drawing on Wednesday is $1 million.
