Ex-deputy sentenced for jail sex

A former Wyandotte County deputy was placed on probation Friday for having sexual contact with a female jail prisoner.

Robert Saladrigas, 25, will be required to complete a sexual offender treatment program and register as a sex offender as conditions of his three-year probation.

Saladrigas pleaded guilty in June in Wyandotte County District Court to a felony count of unlawful sexual relations.

Defense attorney James Spies on Friday called it a “horrible lapse of judgment” for which Saladrigas is “truly remorseful.”

Prosecutors did not oppose the request for probation. It carries an underlying prison sentence of 32 months that Saladrigas could be ordered to serve if he violates the conditions of probation.
