A woman was seriously injured Sunday night when a stolen car fleeing Kansas City police crashed into the car in which she was riding.
Police arrested three suspects in the stolen Honda after the 6:15 p.m. wreck on U.S. 71 just south of 22nd Street. They suffered minor injuries.
Officers had tried to stop the Honda near 39th Street, but the driver ignored officers and continued northbound. Police then rolled a tire-flattening device in front of the Honda, but the driver abruptly swerved to avoid driving over the device. The Honda then hit a Lexus in an adjacent lane.
The Honda had been reported stolen from Merriam.
Police closed the highway for about an hour to investigate the crash.
