One man dies of injuries suffered in crash during KC police chase

A man injured in a Wednesday morning traffic crash in south-central Kansas City has died, according to Kansas City police.

Police identified him as Gregory Wilson, 20, of Kansas City.

He and two others were in a vehicle that crashed in the 1600 block of East 69th Terrace while the driver tried to elude police after a reported armed robbery.

On Thursday, Jackson County prosecutors filed charges against the vehicle’s other two occupants.

Darren D. Thompson, 20, and Demetrius Love, 20, were charged in Jackson County Circuit Court with first-degree robbery.

According to court documents, a man working in the area of 70th Street and Indiana Avenue was robbed at gunpoint. Police later spotted and pursued the suspect vehicle until the driver lost control. The vehicle struck a fence, went airborne and landed upside down.

Police said they are investigating who was driving at the time of the crash. Prosecutors said more charges could be filed.
