Two state highways that had been closed Friday morning due to flash floods in southern Lee’s Summit have reopened.
Storm drains along both Missouri 150 and Missouri 291 were unable to accommodate the heavy rain that fell this morning. Authorities closed Missouri 150 at S.W. Harbor Drive as well as Missouri 291 at S.W. Hook Road.

Though there were no car accidents or injuries due to the high water, two motorists did get stuck when they attempted to cross areas that were flooded, according to a Lee’s Summit police spokesman. Officers assisted those drivers while representatives of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol offered additional traffic support.
Also on Friday morning, Lee’s Summit firefighters responded to a residential blaze in Greenwood, also in southeastern Jackson County.
A fire department spokesman said the fire was quickly controlled and there were no injuries.
