Greater KC Science Fair under way at Union Station

Science-minded students descended Wednesday on Union Station for the 61st annual Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair.

Judging began in the afternoon and continues this morning. The fair is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

By the numbers:

fourth- through 12th-graders entered this year’s fair. They’re competing for more than 200 awards, to be presented Saturday.

Grand Awards will be presented, up from two in past years. Winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to compete in the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair, to be held in May in Pittsburgh.
