Black history exhibit at Union Station extended

The exhibit highlighting black contributions to American history has been extended and will remain at Union Station for Martin Luther King Day and beyond, to Jan. 29.

“America I AM,” presented by Tavis Smiley, was to have closed Jan. 8.

About 10,000 people have been through the exhibit since it opened in October and about half of them have been in school groups. Station officials are trying to stir up interest through word of mouth and viral media. They also are looking for a boost on Martin Luther King Day, which is Jan. 17.
