Traveling World War I Museum offers free passes for new Spielberg movie

The first 75 people to visit a traveling World War I Museum in Leawood on Wednesday will receive a free pass to an early screening of a new Steven Spielberg movie.

The film “War Horse,” about a cavalry horse during the Great War, opens in theaters on Christmas Day but an advance screening is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the AMC Olathe Studio 30.

The exhibit is in a custom-built tractor trailer that has been traveling the country promoting both the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial as well as the financial services company Waddell & Reed. The year-long tour is being sponsored by the company to mark its 75th anniversary. It has visited 27 cities so far.

The free exhibit will be parked from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of AMC Town Center, 11701 Nall Ave.

In addition, the museum at Liberty Memorial is offering discounted admission of $5 Friday through Sunday to mark the fifth anniversary of its opening.
