Sex offender gets 14 years for trying to lure Olathe teen

A registered sex offender has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for trying to arrange for an Olathe teenager to move in with him in Ohio, prosecutors said today.

Jack Albertson, a 58-year-old Lima, Iowa, man who already was a registered sex offender, pleaded guilty to using a computer to attempt to entice in a minor to engage in sexual activity. Albertson invited the 14-year-old boy to move in with him through a text message to the boy’s mother and sent the boy a sexually explicit photo of himself, prosecutors said in a statement.

Authorities said a search warrant at Albertson’s home turned up a list of 40 people he called pen-pals, more than a quarter of them under 18 years old.
