Boil order issued for part of south KC after water main breaks

The Kansas City Water Department has issued a boil water advisory, effective immediately and expected to last for up to 48 hours.

The affected area includes both sides of 135th Street south to the city limits and Holmes Road to State Line Road.

The advisory is due to a 12–inch water main break that occurred at 139th Street and Wyandotte Road and caused a drop in water pressure.

Customers should boil all drinking water vigorously for three minutes before using it to drink, cook, or prepare food. Ice made with un-boiled water should not be used for drinking. Disinfect dishes and food contact surfaces with tap water that contains one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon.
