The mother told police that she left Alexander, who is the father to her older child, in charge of the girl from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Friday while she went to school. When she returned, Alexander told her the girl fell off the bed and that he gave her some ibuprofen.
Doctors found bruising to the girl’s face, abdomen and back. After detectives questioned Alexander, he changed his story, according to court records. Alexander told police he punched the child and threw her on the bed, according to court records.
Alexander told police he was angry at the time of the abuse, but not because of anything the child did, investigators said.
