Woman fights off attacker during home invasion burglary in Olathe

A 36-year-old woman told police that she fought off a man with a blunt object after he entered her Olathe home and assaulted her.

Police responded to a report of an aggravated burglary at 6:40 p.m. in the 14700 block of South Locust Street.

The victim said that the unknown man entered her home through an unlocked door and once inside approached her and physically assaulted her.

She said she was able to break free after striking him with a blunt object. He fled on foot, police said.

The man was described as being a pale-skinned white male about 40 years old with a rough complexion and a round face. He had two-day-growth of facial hair and was “average height and weight.”

The man was wearing a black stocking hat and black hooded sweatshirt.

Police released a composite sketch of the man.
