Five school children suffered minor injuries Monday when their school bus was involved in a wreck with a RideKC paratransit van, according to Kansas City police.

Officers were dispatched to Longview Road and Blue Ridge Boulevard shortly after 8 a.m. Details of how the wreck occurred were under investigation.

The school bus was carrying 27 students to the Hickman Mills school district.

Several children were taken to a hospital as a precaution after one of them complained of a neck injury.

There were no passengers on the RideKC vehicle, said Kansas City police spokesman Sgt. Jacob Becchina.
