A pedestrian is in critical condition Thursday after he was struck by two vehicles while trying to cross the street after stepping off of a RideKC bus, according to Kansas City police.

The incident was reported around 8:45 a.m. at Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Woodland Avenue.

The pedestrian had just got off the westbound bus and tried to rush across the street but was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The impact pushed the pedestrian into the westbound lane, where he was struck a second time by a van, said Sgt. Bill Mahoney, an accident investigation supervisor at the Kansas City Police Department.

The pedestrian sustained several broken bones and was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

No citations were issued. The incident remains under investigation.
