A 49-year-old Raymore man was struck by a car and killed Saturday on an icy stretch of Interstate 35 in Osage County, Kansas.
The man was identified as Robert Groh, according to a preliminary crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred about 5:45 p.m. Saturday near South Paulen Road, which is about 35 miles east of Emporia.
The wreck occurred when a 2001 Saturn SL headed south on I-35 left the road because of icy conditions. The Saturn struck Groh and 35-year-old Adam Balentine of Judsonia, Arkansas. It also hit a Ford E-150 van that was legally parked nearby in the median.
Both Groh and Balentine were rushed to hospitals. Groh was declared dead. Balentine’s condition was not available Sunday.
The driver of the Saturn, a 24-year-old Kalamazoo, Mich., man, was not injured. A passenger in the car was also not injured.
