An employee with a Kansas City, Kan., school is under investigation for an alleged inappropriate exchange with a student on social media.
Piper School District Superintendent Tim Conrad, when reached by phone Wednesday night, confirmed the employee has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Conrad sent a letter to Piper parents and staff on Wednesday in which he wrote that the district had been notified of the “potential concern” one day earlier.
“The District takes all matters involving staff very seriously and will continue to ensure our parents, students and community as a whole that our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our students,” Conrad wrote.
He added by phone that he could not comment on the matter further.
The letter cited state and federal privacy laws as the basis for not releasing more information.
The employee in question is a “top administrator” at a school in the district and allegedly exchanged inappropriate Snapchat messages with a student, according to Fox4.
