KCK police pursuit ends in fatal crash, authorities say

A double fatal wreck was reported Monday afternoon near North 94th Street and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kan. following a police pursuit.

Kansas City, Kan. police said the chase started at about 3:45 p.m. Monday following a reported shoplifting incident at Cabela’s. Police said the pursuit ended after about two minutes when the suspect vehicle was hit by a truck.

The Kansas Highway Patrol went to investigate the crash at around 4:15 p.m. Monday.

According to an online crash log, a 1996 Lexus car fled from police and was going northbound on 94th Street. Two passengers were in the Lexus driven by a 20-year-old male. Authorities said the Lexus tried to turn right onto Parallel Parkway when it was struck by a 2015 Ford F-150. The truck, driven by a 55-year-old male, had been heading westbound on Parallel Parkway when the crash occurred.

Two passengers of the Lexus were killed in the crash and the driver was reported injured.

The deceased were identified as Jason Edwards, 27, of Kansas City, and Amber Bledsoe, 23, of Prairie Village, Kan.

The driver of the truck was also injured, according to the report.
