31-year-old victim identified in KCK triple shooting

Police have identified the man who died when he and two other men were shot inside a car Sept. 8 near the University of Kansas Medical Center complex in Kansas City, Kan.

John Calata, 31, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the shooting. The two other people in the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred around 6:40 p.m. in the 4100 block of Adams Street, and the victims drove to 41st and Booth Street where they contacted police.

The case remains under investigation. Police asked anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
