One person was killed and nine were injured in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday afternoon in Lee’s Summit.
About 4:15 p.m., police said, a GMC pickup driving north on Northeast Todd George Road collided with a Chevrolet Express van that had been going west on Northeast Leinweber Road.
According to Lee’s Summit police Sgt. Chris Depue, a preliminary investigation indicates the van failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by the GMC truck.
Three people were ejected from the van, which contained five adults and six children.
One passenger from the van was pronounced dead at a hospital. Eight other people from the van as well as one occupant from the truck were taken to hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
Depue said the accident remains under investigation.
