A 47-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck early Tuesday morning on Interstate 70 in Independence, according to police.
The wreck occurred about 1:50 a.m. when a Dodge Charger trying to merge from southbound Interstate 470 to westbound I-70 lost control and crashed.
The car traveled across the westbound lanes, crossed over the center Jersey barrier and moved through the eastbound lanes, overturning several times.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was seriously injured and was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center.
Police did not release the name of the driver Tuesday morning, pending notification of his family.
The investigation into the crash continues.
