Barry Road was closed in both directions Saturday afternoon and the southbound lanes of U.S 169 were shut down after an accident at a bridge where the surface street crosses above the highway.
The Missouri Department of Transportation’s Kansas City Scout indicated that two vehicles were involved in the wreck about 1:40 p.m.
According to Kansas City police, a truck hauling construction equipment struck part of the bridge, which dislodged concrete.
Police said a vehicle behind the truck was struck by some of the debris, but the driver of that car was not seriously injured.
