A domestic dispute led to a shooting and standoff with a man who barricade himself inside a residence Tuesday evening in Gladstone.
The incident began about 5 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of Northeast 60th Terrace. Police responded to the scene after a woman was reportedly shot.
Gladstone Police Capt. Rob Hays said the woman ran to a neighbor’s home for help after she was shot. The neighbor called police, Hays said.

Tactical units tried unsuccessfully to make contact with the man for hours before a camera-fitted robot was deployed inside the home. The camera showed the man’s lifeless body on the floor, Hays said.
Police believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Hays said the woman was conscious and talking when paramedics took her to the hospital.
