County starts mailing 2010 tax bills after delay

The Sedgwick County treasurer's office began mailing more than 260,000 tax bills for 2010 this week.

Real, personal, utility and special assessments totaling more than $520 million will be billed for various taxing authorities, including school districts, cities, townships and the county, the treasurer's office said.

The bills are going out a little later than normal.

Sedgwick County normally mails the bills during the last two weeks of November. But technology upgrades delayed the process this year, the treasurer's office said.

State statute requires tax bills to be mailed by Dec. 15. Deadline to pay the first half of the bill is Dec. 20. The second-half payment is due May 10.
