Kansas City Power & Light crews are investigating the cause of thick black smoke coming from a man hole cover in the northeast part of the city.
Jeff Beeson, a spokesman for KCP&L, said reports of heavy smoke in the 400 block of North Montgall Avenue came in just before 9:30 p.m. The area is just south of Guinotte Avenue and is north of Kessler Park in northeast Kansas City.
Beeson said the agency is being assisted by the Kansas City Police Department, which is providing traffic control near the area.
No injuries or power outages were reported.
