Loss of high-skilled immigrants hurts job growth and wages for U.S. workers

A new report says American-born workers in the Kansas City area missed out on creation of nearly 2,000 well-paying jobs because of limits on specialized immigration visas in 2007-2008 alone. Area employers were denied about 660 visa applications for high-skilled, high-tech employees in each of those years, causing the area to lose out on job creation that would have been tied to the immigrant positions.
