It’s about more than operating second-hand stores. Goodwill Industries also exists to provide employment and training for people with different abilities.
Goodwill of Western Missouri & Eastern Kansas is sponsoring a series of job fairs and workforce training sessions this week at its GoodWorks Career Resource Centers in Kansas City, Liberty and St. Joseph.
Details about its “Goodwill Week” are posted at mokangoodwill.org/events. Check the schedule because days, times and events vary by location.
Participating locations are the Kansas City Goodwill Mission Support Center, 1817 Campbell; the Kansas City Goodwill Store, 4824 N. Oak Trafficway; the Liberty Goodwill store, 9740 N. Cedar Ave.; and the St. Joseph Goodwill store, 3609 Faraon St.
Several employers will be on hand at specific times and locations to conduct job interviews. Literacy, grooming, education and nutrition advice also will be offered.
