New Indian restaurant opens in Kansas City: butter chicken, biryani, more
A new restaurant has just opened in Kansas City — this one specializing in north Indian cuisine.
King’s Indian Kitchen made its debut in the Northland last week at 8250 N. Oxford St., near Liberty.
The spot specifically serves food from the Punjab region, like butter chicken ($18.99) and chole bhature ($10.99). Other menu items include chicken korma ($18.99), goat biryani ($15.99) and paneer tikka masala ($17.99). It offers entrées with goat, chicken, lamb, shrimp and vegetarian options.
Led by brothers Sunny and Rabi Singh, the restaurant started in Atchison, Kansas, but closed after about a year.
Manager Navi Kaur said they decided to move it to the KC metro and were able to find a space that was affordable and close to the owners’ homes.
Kaur said they’re hoping area residents will taste their food and give them feedback.
“We cook everything from scratch,” she said. “Fresh.”
King’s is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
The Northland has added several new restaurant and retail concepts lately, with more to come.
