B&B Theatres said Wednesday it intends to add seven movie screens in Lee’s Summit by building a new cinema in the redevelopment site on the historic Longview Farm.
The new theater will be located near View High Drive and Third Street.
The Liberty-based company also announced upgrades to the existing Lee’s Summit 16 theaters on Northeast Douglas Road.
Both plans aim for completion in 2017.

B&B Theatres, the ninth-largest theater chain in North America, also plans to build a new flagship cinema in Liberty and remodel other facilities in 2017.
The new Lee’s Summit cinema will be built under an agreement with Box Real Estate Development. It will be located in the New Longview multiuse redevelopment being billed as a “new urbanism” project. A subsidiary of Mariner Real Estate Management and Yarco Development are working with Box on the development.
