It plans a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at 606 W. 48th St. The first 100 visitors will receive a free tumbler.
Plaza officials declined to comment on the new store.
Tervis has more than 60 licensed partnerships with national brands and sports teams. Designs include the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs, Harry Potter and Star Wars, cherry blossoms, whales, turtles, hunting and golf themes, and monograms.
Customers also can personalize their tumblers with photos, messages and even their own artwork. But Tervis also offers clear drinkware or ones with a simple colored rim.
The drinkware comes with a lifetime guarantee and is designed to keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. The drinkware is microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe. Collectibles (shot glass-sized tumblers of sports teams or vacation destinations) start at $9.99, and accessories like straws and lids start at $3.99.
The North Venice, Fla.-based company, which was founded in 1946, also sells its products in more than 8,000 retail locations nationwide, including Bed, Bath & Beyond and Bass Pro Shops.
Tervis is taking the former Tulip space. Tulip, a contemporary women’s clothing and accessories boutique, relocated to 316 Ward Parkway, east of Seasons 52.
