Upscale cocktail bar in Johnson County planned to debut a month ago. It is now curbside
Park Place’s new upscale cocktail lounge, Verdigris, is now operating as Verdigris To-go.
The former Parisi Cafe spot, at 5245 W. 116th Place in Leawood, has been remodeled and had planned to open a month ago. Now it is waiting for the stay-at-home order to be lifted for bars.
Until then, consumers can order one of its drinks for curbside pick-up from noon until 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Cocktails include The Second Line (strawberry-infused Pimm’s, Reposado tequila, rhubarb, ginger beer and bitter lemonade) serving three people for $25, and the Polynesian Punch (rum, amaretto, passion fruit-honey syrup and lime juice) serving eight people for $50.
David Manica, president and owner of Manica Architecture in Kansas City, opened the Monarch Cocktail Bar & Lounge in the West Plaza area in 2017.
Then he wanted to create something “unique, high-end and customized” for the Johnson County market.
He said his team is anxious to open but is being “cautious and considerate of all safety precautions directed by the state and city.”
Bars that only serve drinks can open at half capacity in the second phase, which could begin as early as May 18.
