Just weeks after closing on the Country Club Plaza, Plaza III the Steakhouse is set to make a comeback in Overland Park.

Its owners, Haddad Restaurant Group, have signed a lease for 12631 Metcalf Ave. They said their clientele would be better served by a "smaller, neighborhood-oriented location."

David Haddad, the group's president, said the new location will have "the same menu with some minor tweaks and many of the same employees."

"We're very close to a large amount of office space and hospitals. It's just a very active neighborhood for dining," he said.

The Plaza location was about 20,000 square feet, and the new Overland Park location — formerly House of Denmark — will be about 14,000 square feet.

Plaza III closed in March after 54 years. True Food Kitchen plans an early 2019 opening in the former Plaza III space at 4749 Pennsylvania Ave.

Plaza III also had previously operated a Leawood restaurant for a couple of years before closing in late 2008.

True Food Kitchen is a health-driven, seasonal restaurant merging nutrient-rich ingredients with a flavor-forward menu that rotates regularly to let guests experience great-tasting ingredients at the peak of their freshness.
