The redevelopers of the Hotel Savoy, the Louisville-based 21c Museum Hotels, recently released a rendering of the new Savoy dining room.
Some Savoy Grill fans were not pleased.
"The contemporary rendering is so cold looking and looks like a cafeteria. Should have kept the old interior of the original. This makes me kind of sad," said one former customer on social media.
Or this comment: "That decor needs to change. Ugly and an insult to the prior version of the Savoy."

But the original Savoy Grill expanded from its corner spot to add other dining areas. The rendering is for one of those rooms, which is being gutted for the main dining area of the new Savoy. The original restaurant will serve as the Savoy's lounge.
"The original dining room is being restored to its former glory," said Savoy executive chef Joe West. That includes the floor, ceiling, crown molding and "The President's Booth. Harry S. Truman's favorite."
21c Museum Hotel Kansas City said the hotel, at 219 W. Ninth St., is scheduled to reopen this summer, along with the restaurant. It is taking reservations for Aug. 6 and beyond.
