Locally owned Blue Moose Bar & Grill plans a fall opening in the redeveloped Red Bridge Shopping Center.
KC Hopps said its Blue Moose concept is known for its “quality family-oriented bar and restaurant atmosphere and menu focused on American comfort food at reasonable prices.” The menu currently includes build-your-own mac-n-cheese, cranberry walnut salad, panini, glazed salmon, and shrimp and chicken curry. It will take a 7,000-square-foot space.
There are also Blue Moose locations in Lenexa, Overland Park, Prairie Village, Lawrence, Topeka and Manhattan.
“The restaurant is the number one thing I have heard people wanted at the shopping center since I was elected to the council six years ago,” said Scott Taylor, 6th District at-large councilman. “I applaud Lane4 for being selective and working with locally owned companies.”

Also new at Red Bridge:
▪ Silks & Poles Aerial Fitness has leased 4,591 square feet. Amina Ricca’s boutique studio will offer a mixture of pole, aerial silks, Lyria, chair dance, Caribbean dance and more. It also will have a Mariposa wild juice bar. Ricca plans an early-to-mid July opening.
▪ Edward Jones & Co. nearly doubled in size in January. It has been in the center since 1987.
Lane4 Property Group started a $19 million renovation of Red Bridge a year ago. Euston Hardware and Blue Bicycle Health & Fitness have since opened in the center at 11212 Holmes Road. Lane4 also has upgraded the facade and installed new landscaping, sidewalks and patios.
Coming later this year:
A new 50,000-square-foot building is planned. Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City will take 30,000 square feet for a new children’s museum. A new Mid-Continent Public Library branch will open in most of the remaining space.
Red Bridge will then be at 75 percent occupancy, compared to 47 percent when the renovation began.
Lane4 said a previously announced tenant, Sofi Cucina Italiana Restaurant, is no longer part of the project.
