Former Sprint CEO Dan Hesse added another director seat to his resume, joining the board of directors at Akamai Technologies Inc.
The Cambridge, Mass.-based company has struggled as its largest customers have begun to handle work internally that Akamai has done for them.
“We believe Dan is a strong complement to our board and will be an asset as we seek to further our relationships with major carriers and network partners, and build upon our innovative mobile performance offerings,” Akamai chief executive Tom Leighton said in the announcement.
Hesse already serves on the boards of PNC Financial Service Group and Kansas City-based Adknowledge, where he helps direct the company’s mobile-first strategy. He led Overland Park-based Sprint from December 2007 to August 2014.
