What is the Starbucks ‘Pink Drink’ that is taking Instagram by storm?

Starbucks fans apparently got the memo to think pink this summer.

Thousands of them are ordering the “Pink Drink” off the chain’s “secret menu.”

In Barbie’s favorite color, the colorful drink that some say tastes like strawberry Nesquik is quickly becoming the most Instagrammed beverage this summer.

Folks are in a tizzy over the drink, with nearly 100,000 photos and selfies posted to Instagram using the hashtag #PinkDrink.

“Starbucks’ marketing has the ability to drive people crazy (see: last year’s red cup backlash and awkward barista conversations around race),” wrote Digiday.

“But the latest viral phenomenon to come from the java slinger arose organically online, among tea-hacking fans.”

And the java slingers are feeling the frenzy.

So what’s inside that picturesque drink with strawberries floating on top?

According to Tech Times, the Pink Drink is a remixed version of Starbucks’ Strawberry Acai Refresher tea.

The Tech Times shared the recipe just in case every barista doesn’t know how to mix the drink.

The drink swaps coconut milk for the water in the traditional Strawberry Acai Refresher, which gives it a creaminess closer to that of a frap than an iced coffee.

Strawberries or blackberries top it off.

And the taste? Teen Vogue declared that it takes like Starbursts.

The drink isn’t on the regular Starbucks menu. The Daily Mail says it’s on the chain’s rumored menu of “secret” refreshments.

“They’re not currently being advertised yet so are only available for those in the know right now,” a Starbucks spokesperson told The Daily Mail.

But if the Pink Drink leaves you cold, there are more than 170,000 ways baristas can customize beverages for customers, according to Starbucks.

“If customers would like to order a beverage that is not listed on our menu, we recommend they know the recipe so that their barista can handcraft the beverage perfectly for them,” the Starbucks spokesman said.
