A Springfield, Mo.-based accounting firm, The Whitlock Co., has acquired Fairway-based RPA Consulting and received Missouri help in moving its area operations to Kansas City.

The Whitlock Co. has had an Overland Park office since 2015. It’s growing to about 20 employees with the addition of RPA Consultants, formerly Rolf Perrin & Associates, said Joe Page, managing partner of The Whitlock Co.

RPA Consultants serves community bank clients in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Page said the Kansas City office should open this summer, though final lease terms were still being negotiated.

The Whitlock Co. received $531,565 in financial assistance from the Missouri Works program. Page said the assistance is tied to adding 36 jobs at the Kansas City offices by 2021.

An announcement from the Missouri Department of Economic Development called the firm’s move to Missouri a $1.2 million expansion. It did not mention the Missouri Works benefits for The Whitlock Co.

Missouri Works allows businesses to direct payroll withholdings or tax credits toward expansions or job creation, or to buy business equipment for an existing facility in the state.
