Westar has said that this month it will inspect some of its transmission lines using helicopters.
The helicopters will fly sometimes as low as 300 to 350 feet above the ground. Passengers will use a variety of methods including laser measurement, photography and coordination with teams working on the ground to measure the height of the lines.
Work will be performed throughout December in and around Wichita, as well as Junction City, Lawrence, Lenexa, Manhattan, Olathe, Salina and Topeka and rural areas.
