Get your comfy spot and coffee cup ready. We've got a treat in store for you on Sunday.
Coming to a doorstep near you as part of Sunday's edition of The Star is an 18-page special section devoted to KC's deep All-Star roots, from its status as a two-time (soon to be three) host of the Midsummer Classic to its tradition as a breeding and proving ground for standout ballplayers.
Our writers make the past come alive exploring the pageantry of the 1960 game at old Municipal Stadium, the 1973 edition at then-Royals Stadium, and many more great moments in local baseball lore.
We also dive into the plays and personalities that make Kansas City anything but just another baseball town: guys like George Brett, Bo Jackson, Amos Otis, Royals royalty that gave the club its swagger.
Not to be overlooked as well is a two-page spread on this year's All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium. We'll get you ready for the game, All-Star Sunday and the Home Run Derby, and give you a couple of cool souvenir posters to boot.
So prepare that cozy setting. We'll see you on Sunday.
