Police: Woman in west Wichita crash died of natural causes

A 42-year-old Wichita woman involved in a single car crash Tuesday died of natural causes, police said this morning.

"She suffered from a long-term medical condition that caused her to lose control of the car," said Lt. Joe Schroeder of the Wichita police.

Witnesses said the Lexus drove off the road and hit a pole, before coming to rest in the middle of 13th Street near Prescott, just west of Maize Road.  There was no other traffic on the road at the time, Schroeder said.

Because the woman died of natural causes, Schroeder said, police are not releasing her name.
