An Interfaith Prayer Service for Solidarity will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Xavier Church, 1001 E. 52nd St.
The Dialogue Institute of the Southwest-Kansas City, Visitation Parish and Xavier helped organize the event to remember those who died in the recent terrorist attacks in Istanbul, Paris, San Bernardino, Calif., and other parts of the world.
Participants also will pray for those persecuted throughout history because of religion, ethnicity or gender. A statement on the Dialogue Institute’s Facebook page said, “We strongly believe that the persecution of innocent people in the name of religion is deplorable and we should all stand against it.”
Organizers include Eyyup Esen, the Rev. Rafael Garcia of Xavier and Jude Huntz of Visitation Parish. Faiths from Latter-day Saints to Hinduism and Judaism will be represented at the service.
