The director of the excavations at Tell es-Safi, better known as the biblical city of Gath and the home of the Philistine champion Goliath, will be speaking at the University of Kansas.
Bar-Ilan University Professor Aren Maeir, one of Israel’s leading archaeologists, will speak at 4 p.m. today as part of KU’s Jewish Studies program.
The excavation effort has turned up a large stone altar reminiscent of the altar in the biblical description of the Tabernacle, among other objects.
