Mark your calendars, Cajun food lovers: Kansas City’s Crawfish Festival is back at the City Market on Friday, August. 8.

The Southern-style festival features live music from Blue Orleans and the recently reunited Bon Ton Soul Accordion Band. Beignet owners Bryan and Monica Merker will cook up voodoo-licious Cajun specialties such as crawfish etouffee, jambalaya, red beans and rice and, of course, sugar-dusted beignets.

According to the City Market, this “midsummer Mardi Gras party” has been on hiatus since 2001, when the Bon Ton Soul Accordian Band retired. The band reunited earlier this year.

Tickets cost $15 online, and parking at the event costs $5. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the music begins at 7. For more information, go to thecitymarket.org.
